From 1 October 2026, the UK vape tax (officially the Vaping Products Duty) is live. It adds about £2.20 per 10ml of liquid. With VAT, that is roughly £2.64 on typical shelf maths.
It covers bottled e-liquid, shortfills, nic shots, and liquid in pods. Hardware is outside it. How much the tax on vapes adds
The duty is charged by liquid volume, not nicotine strength. Numbers we use in-store for the vape tax uk hit:

Final shelf prices still depend on suppliers and what is left. That table is why locking a shortfill or a run of 10ml nic salts at pre-tax prices is worth doing now, before you are on duty-stamped stock only.

Keeping liquid cheaper after the vape tax
Once pre-October stock is gone, new liquid carries the duty. What still helps while Price Lock stock lasts:
- Buy Price Lock own-brand bottles at pre-tax prices while that stock lasts.
- Use a refillable kit or pod so you fill with locked bottles, instead of supplier pre-filled pods we cannot lock.
- Take 5 for £12 on qualifying 10mls while that deal stock lasts.

Refillable vs pre-filled under the duty
This tax hits liquid, not the device. Kits, coils, and empty / refillable pods sit outside the liquid duty.
Supplier pre-filled pods are not Price Lockable. A refillable kit or refillable pod filled with locked EV, BEAR, Skweez (and the rest we stock) is how you keep using pre-October bottle prices.
